My mother collected owls. She loved them. My daughters associate owls with their grandma and they both love them. My one daughter is collecting them now, too. She just moved into a new apt and wanted all kinds of owl motif stuff. So, for Christmas, I thought I would make her an owl. Here is my owl. This is the first animal I've tried to do. My daughter really likes 70's style things and colors (yuck) so I tried to be a little "mod" with this. The owl is in the tumbler now and I plan to give him a jumpring and patina in the morning. I couldn't wait to get some opinions. My other daughter wants earrings and I'm things 2 heads would be cute earrings. What do you think? (I fixed his eyes so they are both the same in the center. Little things like how off the centers are really bug me and show up super well in pictures. ) Attachments:

My DH says a few tweaks would make him an awesome kitty, too. Maybe that will be next.

This is such a perfect wonderful owl! I know what your DH means, the head has the beginnings of a kitty. And of course it would make wonderful earrings, so light as they must be. I think you should make a tute...

This is a beautiful owl! I too like things to be centered. The netting gives a feathery look. Your DH is right about a kitty. Glenda, I do remember the story, my mom read it to me too!
You have Glenda's way with animals! Your daughter is going to love this!

Thank you, thank you! I thought it looked like an owl, but I needed more opinions. Here's a pic of it finished and in my hand for scale. Attachments:

Here's the prototype of the earrings. Too bad it is so large or I would use it for one earring. As is, maybe it will be a pendant to match. Or, just a hanging thingy for the new apt. Attachments:

He is lovely and a fantastic size too! I have to ask, did you make the 'bail' loop from scratch? I love the pattern!

Thanks!! The bail is from a chain that I got at the craft store. It is fashion metal, but I love it! I have been hoarding it because I have only a few rings of different sizes. I got a kitty done! He's really cute, but he's a little dinged up since he was the prototype. I'll try and get a pic though.
