I admit, I wanted to PM this question to Tela, but I hope there's nothing too embarrassing about not understanding the word..So: whimsical (as in "whimsical jewelry"). How do you explain and describe it? Like in real life, not dictionary. Examples of what is "whimsical"? I totally don't get the "feeling" and semantics of this word. Good or bad? What other words come to mind if something is described as "whimsical"? I sometimes see it used alongside "kitsch" (which totally "tastes bad" to me). I've seen it used with reference to some of my earrings (can't remember which), and I'm considering adding this to tags/descriptions.. maybe.. If I can understand it.. and if it's actually something that people might search for and it's really something that is relevant to my works. Thanks

To me "whimsical" is a positive word, with a wide range, somewhere between playful and bizarre. Capricious and mischievous, with a smile. I think I would definitely take a second look if someone's jewelry would be described as whimsical. .

I agree with Renate and add carefree, young spirited... It's not a bad thing.
