Upon my visit today I notice this category is still bare! So, I thought I would post a thread which may be helpful to people who haven't tried polymer clay to 'get going'!! I guess this could also have gone in the admired artisans section or indeed the tutorials bit? Please feel free to reposition me Renate if I have wandered!! ha ha I am by no means an expert in polymer clay having only had a few 'dabbles' I thought I would share a site with you so that should you wish to dabble it will be a 'dabble' made easy!! If I can do it........ www.desiredcreations.com/howTo_Desk.htmThe lentil swirl beads are sooo much fun to make and at the end of it you have great unique beads to incorporate into your jewellery!!

Great link, Glenda!!! I have been wanting to try clay for a long time, but I have too many interests as it is.

I know the feeling. I have been thinking just lately that I am spending too much time on the computer instead of being creative! Too much too do and so little time!

What I like about polymer clay is that you can't really waste it (unless baking killed it). When I mess up something, it goes into the "filling" of something else. I haven't done anything with clay in quite a while because my muse took a time-out, but I really feel the urge to go back and make a few face cabs. Just an example, I have more of those stars and they are big fun to make. It doesn't always have to be beads!

Very cute!! Although I have to say they look so realistic they do freak me out a little - especially the babies that people make!!

Oh yes, Glenda, I know what you mean. While I'm amazed at how people can do that, I prefer the rougher ones, you might say. I'm not saying that because all I can do IS rough *lol*

Oh gosh, yes. On the other hand I also remember the Cabbage Patch Kids which were not realistic at all, but totally freaked me out.
Yesterday I got hit by the sudden urge to play with clay. I made kind of a golden mask and was almost there when Ponder started whining on the other side of the door because I wouldn't let him in. That tore me out of my concentration so badly - that boy is loud! - that I messed something up, tried to repair it, messed up even more and finally tossed the whole thing in frustration. Guess who was snickering when I came out. I swear he did.

I shouldn't have, but I just laughed. My favorite is when I am ignoring Cat and he reaches his paw up to swipe something off the table. All I see is a paw and then the item goes flying!
