I am real torn. I got this as a gift and don't want to ask my dear husband to send it back. I also can't ask him to contact the maker about a problem I see with it. I also, don't feel right giving a bad review when I haven't given the seller/maker a chance to respond to my concerns. What I have decided to do is to tell you just what I think. This is both a bad review and a good one. Also, I haven't used it, yet. That will come in the next installment. This is based on my initial reaction to it.
I go the set found here www.bezelform.com/laser-engraved.html It includes common cabochon sizes. I did not get the faceted gemstone kit. As you can see, it isn't cheap.
First, shipping was a little slower than I have come to expect from online purchases. Especially considering that it was shipped from the same state that I live in. Shipping was 10.95 when it cost 5.55 to ship in a free Priority Mail box. On the site, it says that orders are filled first in, first out. Which can mean anything.
The product comes nicely packaged in a fitted hard plastic case, which is nice. The bezels are fitted in a foam layer. It should help to keep things nice and organized.
The bezels are thick. Much thicker than I thought they would be. they are 5/8 inch or 16mm thick. That should be thick enough to hold onto the mandrel with as many wires as one could need.
The lazer etched sizes are readable. I am concerned that with continued use they will wear off easily, as the lines are rather thin, especially the ones for the prongs.
What bothers me most is the quality of the machining. For the money, I expected a smoother surface. This may or may not be a problem. I am thinking that the way I work- tightly- and with a lot of soft wire, this might be a problem. It remains to be seen. It is true that the marks, if any, would be on the inside of the wire.
I'm going to try it tonight and report back. My overall impression is that the quality of the machining is sadly lacking, the shipping and communications was not that good and the presentation is very good.
