Just finished up a piece of Whitby Jet that I had to share with Glenda. She's been real busy, but hopefully she'll pop in and see this. She kindly and generously shared a piece of Jet with me since I was so incredibly curious to have some in hand. It is even cooler than I thought it would be. It is real light, but not as light as I thought it would be. I was thinking it would be light as lava rock, but it isn't. It isn't really black, either, but super duper dark brown. It has a wonderful texture in it's raw state, which this is. It shines up nicely, too. I netted this to remind me of Glenda. She does a lot of netting and has gotten to be real stellar at it. It's the first time that I have netted to the outside and added beads. I like the look. This is small, light and sparkly with great contrast. Thanks, Glenda. ;D Attachments:

OOOH I like this a lot. The jet is very cool with its textures and striations. It looks beautiful with the netting which you do very well. I had not heard of this until Glenda's trip this summer and descriptions of it.

Thanks ladies, I always think of Glenda when I see netting so I thought it would be appropriate. Funny, I don't think of Eni. I remember when Glenda was learning it and when she really took off with it. I've really enjoyed watching the growth of all my jewelry friends. Glenda, your gift for making animals inspired me to try and make an owl today. I hope it holds a candle to your darling critters.

Tela, that's beautiful. It looks so delicate. I've never heard of Whitby Jet. I'll have to do some research on it.

Thanks, Kate. Jet comes from England and I have yet to come across any here in the US to buy. I have seen Jet cameos and have always been curious about it. Now, thanks to Glenda, I have seen some up close and personal.
