On my recent binge to drag myself into the 21st Century I signed up for a Twitter account and now, when I remember I duly 'Twitter' things I like. Over the last 2 weeks I have had notification that 2 seperate woman are 'following me' Upon closer inspection it turns out they were of few morals and not afraid to share their wants and needs!! Language was crude and Im thinking I have either missed ticking a box that prevents these type of followers or I am just a magnet for trash!!!! I'm actually considering deleting my Twitter account. The first notification that came through to my personal email account had photos!!!!!! Just wondered if anyone could offer any advice or had had any similar experiences?!

That is beyond HORRIBLE!!!! OMG! I have such a hard time with FB that I haven't even thought of twitter. Now, I'm sure I don't want to use it. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. How creepy....

Glenda, you are not by chance Bridget Jones's married sister? Your breathless account of your daily struggles and mishaps should be published as "Glenda Jones's Diary". ;D (Please take this as a compliment, I'm referring to the original columns, not the movie) I have made a few short attempts to catch up with twitter, but found it rather offputting and too stressful (I need the opposite!). Your account is another confirmation that I don't miss anything.

Tela, Renate you certainly are not missing anything!! At least if I decide to ditch it it will be something less to worry about finding time for!
And you are definately right. If I were to have the time to write a diary you wouldn't believe half of it!!! ;D
Im going to post a teeny part of my day in the beadsoup lounge just to show you!!

I have never even looked at Twitter..it sounds way to stress ful and my life is nothing like Glenda's so my Tweets would be snoozers! It is so creepy someone sent those to you. I think of it as a time drain on the internet.

Glenda, I'm on Twitter, and while I find it more user-friendly than Facebook, I do get spammers/porno-bots who follow me, which is always annoying -- and gross! I end up blocking and reporting them. Apparently, there's a way you can control who follows you -- an option where you can approve or reject follow requests. Mr. Sequin does this with his account. I'm not sure how to set it up, but I could ask him. People of questionable morals aside, I'm having more fun using the site than I thought I would. There are a lot of jewelry makers, suppliers, and writers I follow. I've found that the key to happy Twittering is to let yourself unfollow users when needed. Sometimes people will seem interesting at first, but will retweet every single message they receive, or tweet about their breakfast/shows I've never heard of/spats with friends, and I've learned to unfollow without guilt. I'm @saturdaysequins, if you'd like to be Twitter friends or see who I follow. But I understand if you'd rather not deal with porno-bots and the like!

I LOVE Twitter! I have had to limit my Twitter-time though, because it can be a real time vampire. I've had lots of undesirables try to follow me, and every now and again I go through my followers and delete all the questionable ones, including those who just are annoying with their blah, blah. I follow several that are nothing but positive thought posters. They really do make me remember to be a nicer person, more caring, and grateful for my blessings. I do a LOT of gardening (professional) so I find the info I get is really useful. I don't remember to post very often, and I try to stay out of politics, which I adore, but every now and then I just can't help myself. I am sure it has great business benefits, but i like it for fun and seeing what's happening in the world. There is no faster way to get the news of the world, in my opinion only, than Twitter, depending on who you follow. I like so much better than FB, which I am not that thrilled with. The site admin has messed it up so much with changes that don't work that it's really not worth spending time on, unless you have it wired to help your business. I obviously don't, lol! Don't let it intimidate you- I did for a long time, and now I see it as a fun vice, as I live way out in the country and most of my time is spent in quiet reverie.

Thank you for that! I was wondering what was good about it- you did a great job selling it.

Hi Mya! Thank you for sharing your really positive experiences! Maybe I was just unlucky. In all honesty since posting this I haven't had another like it! Now that I have read your account I think I will persevere with it and perhaps spend a little more time making it work for me! As you say these things kind of suck you in and spit you out hours later. I must be sensible with my time!!!
