Turquoise comes in various colours and qualities and fakes, obviously. There is one kind that I like best, but can only find by accident. It is more greenish than blue, has blue, olive and brown shades, and an irregular pattern of a black stone. Usually it comes in nugget shape or otherwise rather rough shape. I'm sure it has a special name, but which? One hint, one ebay seller mentioned that it is not actually a turquoise, but usually found and mined in the same places, and so it is also called turquoise even if it's a different stone. Unfortunatel I forgot . Can anyone help? Any idea what and where to look for? It's the stone I used for my Aztec Sun: Attachments:

I've seen a lot of turquoise like you describe, but never a special name. Except for variquoise, but I don't know if that is what you mean. Most that I have seen is real expensive and doesn't look much like your bead. There are some great and knowledgeable turquoise sellers on ebay, maybe you can shoot them a question?? Check Turquoise-N-more and especially Jim's Rare Gems on eBay.

I read someplace that what is marketed as "yellow turquoise" is actually a jasper as is "African" turquoise. I don't remember reading anything specifically about green turquoise. Your stone almost looks like a combination of real turquoise in heavy matrix at the bottom and some other mineral. That's no a lot a lot of help I'm afraid.
