I wasn't sure how to title this. But, I wanted to let everyone know something, even though it will make me look like a fool. My old Ronson mini butane torch fused a jumpring of argentium last night. Yes, I did help it. It is a crap torch, no doubt, but it seems that a lot of operator error was involved with my previous inability to fuse with it. I got a kiln/fire brick in the mail yesterday. Apparently, it is vitally important to use the right surface to melt on. The brick is made of pumice, is lightweight, carvable and reflects the heat back into your work. I had used a graphite block and a ceramic plate to no avail. Before I got the brick, I was too anxious and tried what I had on hand. It didn't work. Yes, I usually DO learn things the hard way.

This is what I got www.beaducation.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=317They had it a good price, it was available and they use it in their videos. I got a lot of things from them because, well, I like them. There are very informative. The brick is big and easy to cut. DH cut it in half with his bandsaw. I don't know if Beaducation ships to UK. If you email them, I'm sure you can work something out. My only fault with them is they have pretty limited shipping. I've paid 11 to ship priority usps, but priority to other countries is pointless because usps can't guarantee quick shipping once it get s to the destination country. So says a postal employee I talked with. So, you might be able to get them to ship 1st class usps which would probably be cheaper than it is for me. They seem like a small outlet. I like the choice of product and the videos using the products. No surprises.

WAY COOL, GLENDA!!! ;D ;D ;D You'll have to keep us updated! I have been wondering about the copper clay, too- alas I only have so much time and money I did try silver clay when it first came out. It was so expensive, even then, that I was too scared to use it!
