I think I mentioned that I was going to do a tute on fusing copper. I have spent a lot of time on this already and have pretty much decided to do a 2 part tute. One with a video demonstration and one with text and pictures. I could only sell it in my store, as JL is not set up for videos. It would be 2 separate downloads.
Have any of you found video tutes other than beaducation and a few free ones on youtube? I don't see a lot of people doing this and I think it is getting easier and easier to do, so I wonder why more people aren't doing it. Any thoughts?

Would love a video on copper fusing! www.wiredupbeads.com has a few free video tutorials but I have not seen them anywhere else I don't think. Not reallly sure why.

I cannot think of a place like beaducation, but I have once purchased a text-and-video tutorial on either Artfire or Etsy. I cannot remember how exactly the procedure was, but after purchase I got the pdf as usual, and an email with instructions where to download two video files, which would expire after a while. It worked very well for me.
So I guess you actually could sell it through JL, by a similar procedure: the student receives the pdf as usual, and you could offer the video as an extra bonus, and send a separate download link by email or PM. If the files weren't too big even sending by email could work. Crucial of course would be that JL agreed...
How would the procedure be in your shop?

Thanks for the replies, ladies. I haven't seen many video tutes, either. I just did a test video of the fusing and I am less than impressed and that was with my best camera. I've spent so much time and wire on this and I don't feel that a written tute alone would really convey what is happening in the flame. Since, timing is everything with this, it is crucial to see it, not read it. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I went looking at better cameras- yikes!!! For the quality I want and need, they are really expensive and I have no way to know how well they would film fire.

Sorry to hear the video is posing such problems. In your blog you mentioned not feeling qualified about all the safety issues. You could refer people to Beaducation where they have a very good free video on torch safety with Iris Sandkueller (sp?) I do hope you are able to get this to work as I know so many would benefit from the information...me,me,me

That was my thought, too, Christine. Their videos are very good. But, I think JL would frown on that. I am going to suggest that in my store version of the tute and on the blog and I will be offering the vid with the store tute, but can't with JL. However, I am going to explore whether I can embed some video in a pdf. Sneaky, huh?

I just spent the last 12 hours working and I need a break. I think I am a 2/3s of the way done the first draft. I have a written pdf with screen shots of the video and 2 videos from different angles. It's been a lot of work. I've been working on it since Thurs or Fri. But, I think it is shaping up well.
I'm thinking I'll offer the pdf WITH videos in my store and just the pdf at JL. If word gets out people can get just the video at the store. But, the video will be pretty useless with out the pdf. It really is just a demonstration of the actual fusing. I haven't been able to successfully embed a decent video into the pdf and JLs upload is pretty small, so it wouldn't work.
