Hi, Just thought I might jump in the deep end and share what I have been doing. I was asked to do a local handcrafted market recently and I said yes. ( not sure if that was a good idea or not) Any way I have been spending almost every spare moment making stock . Between running our small business looking after two children and the house making jewellery comes last. I have however managed to get some stock together that won't embarrass myself too much So please throw any helpful criticism my way!!! You can check out more of my pics on my facebook page : Las handcrafted Jewellery All rings are made from recycled copper wound and cut by myself. The weave is called.Helm or Parallel Lee-Ann Attachments:

Love this set, would wear it in a minute! It has a beautiful warm shine. It is exactly the kind of jewelry that would draw me in on a market, but then I'm probably a little biased in favour of oxydized copper. Hope you post more pictures of your stock, and also from your market stand! Btw, I'm in awe of chainmaille makers, it must be a LOT of work!

Good luck at the market! I love chainmaille to look at and these are so pretty, it's something I'd never have the patience for!

I just had a look at your FB. Beautiful! In all honesty, I don't think you should be worried. You have some very nice pieces and your work looks great! I think the colors are so right with Spring coming up, too. I also like the copper pictures here. I really like copper.
Good luck!!

Lovely work, Lee-Ann. How did you get the two different copper shades? I really like the contrast.

Hi Joyce. The copper is a recycled copper with a varnish like coating on it. I get it from a friend how has a motor rewind business. Each roll of wire I get usually has a different shade to it. So I just used what I had and It turned out to go well together. The colours have a warm feel to them and the coating is very hard but smooth. The pendant is particularly nice to wear. Thanks for looking Lee-Ann

OK, So I did the market stall. I did not sell as much as I would have liked Do we ever ?? However I did get heaps of valuable insight to the whole "market stall" thing. I spoke to as many other stallholders as I could, gained some pretty usefull information about the whole selling at markets in Brisbane. The thing I didn't get is a whole lot of feedback on my jewellery its self. I think I need to be a bit more patient for that. The passing trade was a bit slow and I did not get a lot back from buyers and lookers. So not a complete waste of time and I covered my cost of the stand and a little. I guess its funny to think now some of my jewellery is out there being worn by a complete stranger.... I am not sure if this is the way to go for me in the long term but It was fun trying and not too painfull. Lee-Ann

Thanks for letting us know how it went. Sounds like it was a good experience overall. I have never done a show before. I'm terribly shy and not a people person, if you can believe it So, you are one up on me and it was good to hear what you did learn even if you would have liked more feedback. From what I saw of what you had, I thought you had some nice things. Nothing ventured, nothing lost, right?
