As most of you very likely have seen on her blog, Tela is looking for a new handbag / purse. Of course I had to look everywhere for a handbag... ;-) . Etsy, pinterest, dawanda, google shopping.... And I learned that these thingies are darn expensive! You can easily pay 200-500 $ for it! For that price you could have one custom made, which may be a good idea. Here is one that I wouldn't blush to be seen with myself, and which is moderately priced. www.ebags.com/product/randem/bubble-lamb-small-jackie/224751?productid=10161154&sourceid=googfeed&couponid=86786467&cawelaid=1251004888##Btw, this is a very good example for "how to find a small business item on the www", the reverse experience of what you are trying to do. There must be a lot of good leather crafters who would love to make a custom bag for you. Come to think of it, if there are forums with wire artists, or bead artists, there must also be places where leather crafters and artists meet and discuss how to find their potential customers. Hm... how to find them?

Here's another one I like. Good size. Too bad it's so expensive. www.ebags.com/product/cole-haan/village-jade-small-bag/229385?productid=10175196I'm sure I would not have paid more than 35 for mine. I probably got it on sale or, even better, on clearance. I don't know the brand. If it ever had a name on it, I would have taken it off. If any company wants me to display their name, they had better pay me for it! LOL!!!

Oh, that's lovely! Makes me want every color. ;D I think it is too big, though.
I just measured mine-
It is 9 inches wide, 6.5 tall, 4 wide So, it's pretty small. I'm only 5' 5" so a really big purse gets lost on me and I don't use that much space.

That is pretty small for a handbag indeed! Most bags are larger. Do you remember, a while ago we talked about this bag: www.handbaglessons.com/tutorial/knitting-pattern-felted-doctors-bagDo you still like it? If so, maybe you can find someone who can knit and sew it for you, in a colour of your choice. ;-) Speaking of bags - has anyone here ever made handbag charms? Or hangs charms from their bags? I would love to make some charms, but I keep forgetting.

I did not even know there was a handbag Lesson site...must be living under a rock . I don't make bag charms as such. I do however make a chain maille bag clip with a watch face on it. So when you are doing all your running around you can check time without rummaging for your phone to check time. This suited me and some friends especially with small children in tow. I don't wear a watch anymore. Kept scratching the kids or digging in when I had to pick them up. Tela let us know how the GREAT BAG chase ends up

@ Renate--Yes, I do still like that style bag. If it had a zipper top and a strap, it would be even better. I've never even thought of bag charms-- wait a minute- back when I was glassblowing I had to carry my music with me to work, it was tapes and cds- mp3's weren't big yet- I decorated my BIG music tote with a varied collection of keychain toys and pins. It was practically covered! And, like Las says, I used to hang a watch on my purse. Just a watch, nothing cool. @ Las- I will keep you updated. I need to get a new one sooner than later.
