Making cabochons!

I don't know if anyone has read this in my blog but I am doing my own cabs. Well, I will be when my machine gets here.

I have been consumed with rocks!!! I have been drooling over them and bidding on them, I've had some given to me and I'll be trading for some. I have some really awesome rocks future projects.

The picture is how they look before you start grinding, shaping and polishing. The don't look like much now, but they will! These will be my first cabs, so I haven't whipped out the good stuff, yet. I'll be doing needing lots and lots of practice first.

I got the saw that cuts the pictured preforms the other day. The polishing machine should be here in about 5 days and I also got a machine to cut grooves into cabs. How cool is that? I'm thinking matching earrings stones for pendants that aren't too big, heavy, fussy or hair tangly. (I just made up that word LOL!)

Now you know why I have been so absent from the board and pretty much everywhere else. Well that and I am now selling on Etsy, which I never thought I would do.

The stones look very promising, and I'm very curious to follow your process from rough to shiny.

Do you have templates for all those shapes?
