I just went to my profile and added an avatar. For anyone who doesn't know what that is: It is the little picture under my name. If you want to do it- Make or find a picture. Make it 100px x 100px or less in whatever photo editing software you use. I use 2 photo editing softwares Irfanview (FREE!!) www.irfanview.com/and Photoshop. You can resize your image with most programs, though. Upload your photo to whatever image hosting site you use. I use Photobucket photobucket.com/. Get the web address (url) of the image and paste it into your profile under "modify profile" in the field "Avatar URL" If you have any questions, post them here and I'll try to help.

I'm having troubles with mine.. 96x96 gif Looks like it doesn't like gif format. Can you check? Gifs are very popular for avatars..
And it'd be lovely to have them at 120x120px

Unfortunately, I can't find any information regarding file types, specifically.
I do know that when I input my url I used the url without any brackets- just the straight up url. I tried with image brackets and it didn't work.
I did some googling and couldn't find out about gifs, either. But, like you said, most sites and ppl use them, so it seems like we should be able to here.
I'll keep looking.

OK, I just uploaded a gif and it worked fine. Try using the straight url without any code. Also, watch to see what the size is set at in the avatar section of modify profile. I had to change the size to 100 x 100.

Thanks for tips. Yep, it was the 100px field. Strange. Usually those things are set in the ACP, not frontend. And as long as the size is less than specified in ACP, it shouldn't hiccup. Now the image is stretched from 96 to 100. But it was refusing to accept 96 earlier. Whatever No big deal. Will fix the size when I'm less lazy.

Glad I could help. I'm sure that's not the first bug we'll run into.
I like your avatar! LOL!
