Update: The tute is now live at JL. ----------------------- Finally got it done. This is my best yet and I feel really good about it. It can be had now on my blog tinyurl.com/6ljs97a (the link was too long) or you can wait for JL to post it. I put a very reasonable price on it, so at JL I won't be making much. It is the same price in my store, but I get to keep both halves of the money. Attachments:

Glad you said that Tela!! I'll head to your blog when I want it then!! ;D
Have you managed to get some software to automatically send out a PDF or will you do it manually?? I have been thinking about trying to find something that will do that for a while!! One day it will reach the top of my priority list!!
Congratulations on the Tut!! Did you wear gloves? ;D

Hi Glenda, I was up so late getting everything done. My store does all the work of selling digital products. I've sold a few already and no one has complained, so I guess it is working. My store is free and mobile. It is the one we discussed here on the board. Even if you just used it to sell your tutes and link to you wouldn't be out anything.

Congratulations!! I am so very excited for you and proud of you for completing your tutorial. I am off to your store to purchase it now. Now I know what I will be doing today!! Wow! I just read through your tutorial and it is outstanding! it is so well written, the pictures correlate with the text and it all makes sense to me. I will keep you posted after I try my first wrap today. Thank you for once again sharing your amazing creativity. It was wonderful to see your beautiful hands!

Thank you, Christine, I'm glad you like it. I hope it doesn't pose any problems for you, but if it does- do let me know and I will help you and adjust the tute if I need to. When you are writing a tute, it is sometimes hard to anticipate what might be needed that you take for granted- if you know what I mean.
Thanks about my hands. Between winter, my skin condition and all the metal work- they look better in the pics than I thought they would. Not too gross ;D
I got my books and dvd in today. I got the torch yesterday. I'm so glad the books didn't come while I was writing the tute or the distraction would have driven me crazy. Today- I'm curling up with some eye candy and new ideas.

Awesome, thank you! I can't wait to see what you do. I know you'll do great!
I have a question- How did it print? I've actually never printed a tute. I try to keep light backgrounds and keep the pages down to a minimum. I keep in mind that people DO print, but I haven't done it myself. I'm too cheap to buy lots of ink.

Tela, once you've had a computer crash and lost all of your tutorials (along with everything else), you might discover (as I did) that printing tutorials is a very cheap option. Plus, I can write in all the changes/ substitutions I use to keep track of what works and what doesn't. Also, I like to learn the steps of a tutorial before I start to make it, so having the paper copy helps me learn.

I make paper copies of tutes I plan to make soon. All others, along with all my photos and other important things, are saved on an external hard drive, in addition to the computer's hard drive. Saving to DVDs is another option. It's important to have a back-up.

I was gone for the weekend and just logged on. I'm so excited about this tutorial. I'm going to get one your site and buy it. I can't wait to work on it and if it is like your ring tutorial, I know I'm going to enjoy it. That one was so precise and clearly stated. I did make a promise to myself to get my jewelry listed on Etsy this next week. I have to get that done before any other projects! boohoo boohoo

Shiny, I feel you! I haven't had a hard drive failure IN my computer but I had my BACK UP drive fail. Luckily, I had everything on my main computer still. Now, I have things on 2 computers and a back up drive along with the most important stuff on dvd. Kate, thanks I hope you feel the same about the new one. ;D

Congrat's, Tela, Your tutorials are well done and I am sure this is no exception.
RE: loosing stuff, I am so paranoid, I have 3 back ups and an additional hard copy if possible, making 4. Bit obsessive probably but, then when I think of the time it would take to replace, goodness! WW

Hi Tela, The printing of the tute is fine. For all the reasons mentioned above as well as my computer is not anywhere near my workspace. I also like to make notes as I work and if I write on the tute it is there when I next use it. Any way the tute is FAB. I got stuck into it and all went very well. I had to make some small change as the cab I used was smaller that in the tute. The end result is excellent with the only exception my inability to get the small seed beads to stay even. ( Due to my lack of skill) I will redo them when I get a chance. The tute is very clear , no steps are unclear or missing. Pics are great. Including so called damaged hands. Ha Should see mine. The only thing Tela could have done to improve was to come to my house and do it with me. If I can mange to get a clear pic I will try and post here. ( not sure how to do that just yet) My mind is already full of other ways I want to use this tute. Great job . Thanks heaps for your time and effort you should be proud!!!! Will your other older tutes be available on your site? ;D

;D ;D Thank you!! ;D ;D You made my Monday morning, which was already off to a bad start. Power went out during the night, alarm didn't go off, now I won't have time or hot water for a shower before my Dr appt. One must always shower before the Dr. ARGH!
I'm really glad you could follow it, even with a different size cab. I've used all sizes and shapes now, but, of course, with a tute I have to stick to one size. Great to know it printed well, too. Can't wait to see it. ;D

:-*Yesterday, I worked on Tela's great new tutorial. I love it! It was easy to follow and my piece worked out well even using a 25mm cab. Next time I will work a little harder on my prong placement but I am pleased with my first attempt. Thank you Tela!! Attachments:

Wow!!!! That was quick and you did a great job! I can't see that the placement was wrong. I love the colors in this piece, too- very nice and mellow. You should be pleased, it came out very nice and for your first one, it is especially nice. Thank you for sharing

Thanks Tela, I was nervous for you to see it. The instructions are so well written! I will post it on JL after your tutorial is up so I can link it. Your positive words mean a lot to me.

Christine you should never be nervous I want you to know that that wasn't just fluff. I think you did a great job. I will always try to be honest. I don't think anyone can learn by just hearing the fluff, though we do need it sometimes. I went back and looked hard at the blown up picture and found the one prong out of place, but it was hard to see. Not distracting, at all. I think it is interesting that both you and LAS used different sized cabs and still managed ok. That makes me feel good

I know you speak the truth and have always appreciated it. Fluff can be good for the moment but we don't learn from it. Next time, or may redo, I will narrow the back of the woven bail. I think you see a little too much of it from the front yet not quite sure how to make it work.

Christine, do you have trouble with the back of the woven bail in general or just this time? I ask because I used to too and can tell you what I did to improve.

OK- I just posted with a drawing and had to remove it, because it didn't make sense. Let me know if you would like drawing of this and I'll see if I can do a better one. -------------------------------- This is what I do. This is by trial and error, I don't have a tute for it by anyone and I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes. I taught this to myself. This requires doing some eyeballing. I don't make any measurements. Spread your wires for the weave. Look at your whole wrap and decide what would be a good height for the bail. Go up a little from that, use a ruler and marker to put dots on the outside wires where the imaginary line should be. (the one that is a little higher.) Using a ruler just helps get it straight across. Bend your wires in where the marks are and bend the tips out a little so you can work easier. You don't need a sharp bend. Do the weave. When you reach the bend, it will want to slip over the bend. Do about 5 weaves real tight right there. Be careful, don't pull in your outside weave wires. You will have to keep pushing it down. After a few, it is secure and stops wanting to roll. It's a little tricky, but you get the hang of it. Keep working, now on the downside. As you work, let the weave pull in. Keep adjusting your top bends so you can weave easier. Soon, your weave will be worked down nice and small. I can't tell you when to stop, you will have to eyeball when you will be past the point of meeting the back of the weave at the beginning. I can tell you it is always more than I thought When you have the length you want, take a mandrel- I don't even like to use bailing pliers for this, I use a rod- and place it behind the weave. It should be centered on the fattest part for best results. That would be where the wires were bent. Push the weave over the mandrel. You should have a bail that has the fattest part of the weave neatly divided between both sides of the top of the bail, with a nice taper to a thin end. So, that's what I do. Did it make sense?

Ok, in the drawing, on the right the dotted line represents where you would place the mandrel. When you bend over the weave the widest part will be on the top of the mandrel. It's a little exaggerated, but the point is, you need to start the bend off dead top to get the widest part ON dead top. Attachments:

Thank you, Thank you! That makes sense to me. I just kept weaving or pulled the wires too close before the bend. On some designs, it didn't matter but this one really showed. I thank you for taking the time to explain and draw it out for me. You are such a gift!! I am going to redo this bail as I am pretty happy with the piece otherwise.

You're welcome I kinda sounded like I contradicted myself between the one post and the with the drawing. When I make the bend, I have the piece facing me, that's why I described it that way in the drawing. So, with the piece facing you you start blow center to get center on top.

las (can I use your real name?) I will be moving my old ones to the webstore, too. I just need to find the time to do it. Some parts of the tutes will need to be edited for JL stuff.

Have to get my act together. Btw Christine I think your pendant is excelent. I love the colours. I dare not try a woven bezel yet. I still need to redo the seed beads on mine then I will try try to post a pic. It will need some Cc.
